Elitebytes shows screenshot of VeloSSD with RAM cache - 267,000 IOPS

Elitebytes has posted a screenshot of their software using RAM as a cache instead of an SSD. The screenshot shows incredible speeds, reads of 11 GB per second and writes of 4 GB per second. Elitebytes is the developer of VeloSSD, software that can be used for SSD caching.

With SSD caching  frequently accessed files are stored on small and expensive but  fast SSD. The rest of the data is stored on a traditional, slow but cheap HDD. This means that for a relative low price it's possible to boost the computer performance by using the SSD as a cache and the HDD for mass storage.

VeloSSD is normally used for SSD caching, but the developer has now also added the ability to use RAM as a cache. RAM memory is faster and more expensive than a SSD. Besides that it has the drawback of being volatile, once the power of the computer is off, the data is gone.

In this case VeloSSD get's the data from the HDD, stores it in the SSD cache and then also attempts to cache data in memory. By synching the data between memory and SSD, the data won't be lost and you'll still get the benefit of faster data transfers.

Unfortunately the software is currently in a closed beta so you can't find the feature in the regular version of VeloSSD yet. If you want to try the regular version then head over to the Elitebytes website. If you have questions then head over to our VeloSSD Forum where Elitebytes can answer your questions.
