Enterprises do not care much about Windows 8 - prefer iOS and Windows 7

Enterprises are not embracing Windows 8, most of them are focusing on getting on Windows 7 and don't see any benefits of moving to Windows 8. These are the conclusions from a report released by Forrester Research.

In April 2014 Microsoft will end support for Windows XP and by that time many enterprises will move to a newer Windows version. The first choice of enterprise IT departments will be Windows 7 and not Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 8.

While the IT departments prefer Windows 7, about 38% of the enterprise employees prefers Windows 8, while 35% prefers Windows 7. Windows 8 is also not the most popular OS for tablets, 20% prefers a tablet running Windows 8 while 26% rather has a tablet running Apple's iOS.

IT departments also don't see the new Metro interface as an improvement and, according to Forrester, the IT departments think that Windows 8 doesn't offer enterprises enough savings in operations to make switching to Windows 8 a top priority.
