Voice Search only works on Google.com and requires users to say "OK Google" after which Google starts to listen for search requests. Sean Sullivan from the Finish antivirus developer F-Secure discovered that Chrome listens till an user says "OK Google". After that the recorded voice is uploaded to Google, "plus a few seconds before". Plus_a_few_seconds_before

Sullivan argues that's "interesting phrasing" because it's not clear how many seconds.

"That's the thing about voice "activated" devices. They're always listening. Always recording (to a buffer). The question is: how much gets uploaded to the voice recognition service?", the researcher concludes.
