Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 bundle confirmed

Microsoft was forced to publicly confirm it plans to release a 'Final Fantasy XIII' 250GB Xbox 360 game console bundle, after it was leaked to video game sites earlier in the week.

The console bundle will include a white Xbox 360 with a larger 250GB HDD, two white controllers and a copy of Final Fantasy XIII.  Custom avatars and other downloadable content will be available with the bundle, Square Enix and Microsoft claim.

Microsoft isn't adding any custom decals or images to the console, but a new face plate will be available as an accessory.

The game first became available on Dec. 17th in Japan, where Sony shipped a custom 250GB PlayStation 3 console bundle with the game.  Unfortunately, Square Enix has confirmed that the Xbox 360 version will be the only console bundle available outside of Japan.

Final Fantasy XIII is expected to be released in North America and Europe on Tuesday, March 9.  Microsoft will make the bundle available for $399.  There aren't too many Xbox 360 screenshots of the game yet, but it is expected to look very similar to the PS3 version.

Only highly anticipated video games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 are wrapped up into console bundles -- previous Xbox 360 bundles included Halo 3 and Gears of War 2.  I'm a fan of these bundles offered by Sony and Microsoft, but only when they're available for select game titles.
