Fujitsu intros 2 piece phone

Fujitsu officially introduced the F-04B mobile phone capable of separating into two pieces, offering Japanese consumers an interesting new phone supported on one of the country's most popular wireless networks.

The Fujitsu F-04B is a QWERTY slider smartphone that includes a slide-out keyboard, 3.4-inch screen, 12-megapixel camera, and has support for the 854 x 480 pico-projector instead of using the phone's keyboard.  If the phone is separated, the phone and keyboard communicate with one another using Bluetooth technology. The piece can communicate with one another for up to 10 meters, with the keyboard also able to be used as a speaker, microphone or game controller.

The phone also includes the 3.4-inch screen supporting a 480 x 960 pixel resolution, Japanese and English language support, GPS and HSDPA. Additional details are still unknown.  The F-04B is 11.4 centimeters by 5.1 centimeters, and the phone as a single unit weighs 173 grams.

The touchscreen display is where the antenna and radio module are stored, and a phone owner looking to cut back on weight can leave the key half at home.  Both parts of the phone can receive or place calls, with the bottom half using an LED light and the top half supporting a ring tone.

The Fujitsu F-04B will be released on the NTT DoCoMo network in March or April 2010, although it's unknown if the phone will be released in North America or Europe.
