Google today announced that it will launch a tool called “Backup and Sync” by the end of this month. The application, targeted at regular consumers, can be used to backup files and photos to Google’s servers. Users can set which folders need to be backuped to Google’s servers.

In a blog Google explains that the tool combines the functionality of Google Drive for PC/Mac and Google Photos desktop uploader.

For business users Google also has a new tool in the pipeline. Later this year these users will get access to “Drive File Stream”. This application makes it possible for users to access large amount of data in the cloud without this taking disk space.

Backup and Sync is scheduled to be released on Wednesday the 28th of June.
