Google and AppNexus don't want to be affiliated with Acceptable Ads Platform from Adblock Plus developer

The Acceptable Ads Platform that was launched yesterday by Eyeo, the developer of Adblock Plus, is obstructed by parties which were claimed to be partners. Eyeo claimed yesterday that it used technology from advertising giants Google and AppNexus for the beta of its Acceptable Ads Platform.

However, Google has stated it isn't aware of any cooperation with Eyeo and AppNexus has stated that there was an unauthorized affiliation through its partner ComboTag. AppNexus has informed ComboTag it's no longer allowed to work with Eyeo and stated the company is, "definitively refusing to make Acceptable Ads Platform available on AppNexus".

Eyeo's Acceptable Ads Platform has been controversial since it was first announced. The company's adblocker does allow advertisements that adhere to certain criteria but Eyeo takes a percentage of the revenue. Criticasters have stated to compare the business model with blackmailing of advertisers.

"Essentially, Eyeo, via its Adblock product, erects toll booths on a public road and siphons off advertising dollars that should be going directly to publishers. We hold that practice in low regard", a AppNexus spokesman told Business Insider.

Later today is also became known that Google ended its relationship with ComboTag after Business Insider published about its relationship with Eyeo.

A spokesman of Eyeo insists that its Acceptable Ads Platform is using technology from Google and AppNexus. It's however unclear how the platform will continue and when it will go out of beta.
