Google's self-driving car just got better - video visualizes improvements

Google has posted a video to Youtube showing progress on their self-driving car. The video shows how the developers of the company have worked hard on dealing with many different and complicated traffic situations.

Especially high traffic locations within cities are a hard nut to crack but the video shows how Google's self-driving car is able to deal with construction sites, indecisive cyclists and pedestrians. The car will also make sure railroad crossings are free before it crosses them and most importantly the video shows how well the car can handle many of these factors all combined.

The video shows how Google's self-driving car watches the road, pink boxes represent cars,  red boxes represent cyclists and yellow boxes are pedestrians.

Although traffic situations with many participants are complicated to us humans, Google states the self-driving cars have no hard task dealing with them. The software simply listens to the input of the many sensors the car has and follow a set of rules to make the right decision.

The internet giant claims the self-driving cars have driven more than 700,00 miles and that self-driving cars will be safe enough for daily use in the future. Nevertheless, the developers still have to iron out a lot of bugs and quirks and the company will need to drive many more test miles before the car is good enough for everyone to use.
