How it feels like when your music is pirated

A free mobile application called Music Inc. is the new weapon of the music industry against piracy. The app is a collaboration between UK Music, the Intellectual Property Office and Aardman Animations and designed to educate.

"Our goal is to give young music lovers a taste of what it’s like to work in the music industry and convey a message about the value of creativity in a fun and interactive way.Players of Music Inc will see how vital every stage in the music-making process is."," said Jo Dipple, CEO of UK Music.

The UK's Minister for Intellectual Property, Lord Younger hopes the app, "will help capture their imagination and encourage them to think about copyright and its importance to the creative industries".

The game is all about  selecting and managing an aspiring musician.  Players have to style the artist and select the right song writers, producers and studio technicians to make the perfect song.  Also the business side is covered, users have balance the books and keep a close eye on how radio play, streaming and the inevitable issues of unlicensed usage and piracy contribute to failure or success.

The application is available now for both iOS and Android.
