No details on the software have been given but it reportedly is suitable for 'forensic research on mobile phones , including iPhones'. The Indian government denies to have to plans to make 'security backdoors' mandatory. These backdoors should allow secret services to get access to encrypted data whenever they want.

Security of iPhones is a hot topic between Apple and the American secret services for some time. The FBI demanded that the electronics giant assisted them by cracking the iPhone of a terrorist. Apple refused to do because according to the company it would harm the security of each iPhone. In the end the FBI was able to circumvent the security with the help of an external party.
