Intel lists its release date as May 2016, however an Amazon seller is even more specific and lists the release date at the 11th of May. A web store specialized in NUCs lists another date, according to SimplyNUC the NUC6i7KYK will become available on the 16th of May. Also NewEgg lists the device and has it available for preorder but the company doesn't state any information on when the Skull Canyon NUC becomes available.

UK retailer Scan seems to agree with the Amazon reseller and also lists the 11th of May as availability date.

The Intel NUC6i7KYK is the company's most powerful NUC ever. It's powered by a 6th generation (Skylake) Intel Core i7-6770HQ processor with Iris Pro graphics (2.6 to 3.5 GHz Turbo, Quad Core, 6 MB Cache, 45W TDP). It has a HDMI 2.0 port, Mini Displayport and Displayport 1.2 via USB Type-C. Users can fit up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and it has Thunderbolt 3, infrared, Wifi and Bluetooth support out of the box.

The 'Skull Canyon' NUC comes with both a lid with a skull and a 'regular' lid. It measures 211mm x 116mm and 28 mm and will cost around $650.

Despite that Intel markets the device with terms like 'maximized performance for intense game play' and 'full-sized performance', it still features a mobile Core i7.
