Interest in 3D TVs is low - Smart TV and Ultra HD interest is up

Consumers aren't really interested in 3D televisions, according to a UK retailer. The 3D technology is currently in most high-end televisions but doesn't appear to be a reason for consumers to purchase a particular TV.

While 3D TV has been a buzz word for a couple of years, consumers are more interested in Smart TV functionality. Also interest in Ultra HD (4k) is increasing, according to the retailer.  While it might be something for in the cinema, in homes people don't like to wear glasses and also the amount of 3D content is limited.

Earlier we  wrote that TV manufacturers agree that the 3D hype is over. They stated to invest more in OLED, the successor to LED which should make TV's thinner, have better colors and consume less energy. Ultra HD is the successor to HD which should result in better image quality. Currently some manufacturers have released OLED and Ultra HD products, but they are not yet in mass production.
