Last Patch Tuesday patches delayed till next Patch Tuesday – 14th of March

Posted 16 February 2017 17:06 CEST by Jan Willem Aldershoff

The updates that were planned for this month’s Patch Tuesday will be released during the Patch Tuesday of March, Microsoft today announced. Last Tuesday Microsoft reported that it would delay the patches of the 14th of February due to last minute issues.

It was the first time ever Microsoft delayed its Patch Tuesday cycle. Since it started with the monthly patch cycle it never missed one. An update to the original announcement of the delay now states that the company will release February’s patches during March Patch Tuesday. This means that this month’s patches will be become available at the 14th of March.

So, Microsoft is saying that whatever the problems are that these patches are supposed to fix - well, those can wait. Their "schedule" is more important that fixing the issues.  That's their priority - their schedule?  Now we know.   Thanks to this article for giving up the heads-up!  .

Part of my thoughts as well. In my mind it would seem natural that anyone screwing things up would make a move... in any direction but this
What they in reality say is "We're not really concerned about our customers security at all, we are only concerned about ourselves and the systems we live by to generate income".

This signals a move away from customers (not that we didn't see it coming when they refused to listen to the telemetry and surveillance complaints about Windows 10 {for reasons based in pure greed}), but I had at least some hopes security being important for them as well and not only their customers.

Why Microsoft can't (or should I say "won't") release these updates a few days later, as opposed to a month later, is beyond me. I personally don't really care about updates being slightly off-schedule (the key word being "slightly"), but an entire month is a long time when it come to cyber-security.
