Lawyer sues Microsoft over Surface free storage misadvertising

We recently reported about the difference between the real and advertized free space on Microsoft Surface tablets. A laywer from California also noticed how little space he had compared to his idea when he bought the device and has decided to sue Microsoft. He bought the 32 GB version of the Surface tablet and discovered that only 16 GB of free space was available to store pictures, video and other data. He filed the suit at the Superior Court in Los Angeles for false advertising and unfair business practices.

He hopes that Microsoft will change their advertisements to better reflect the available free space and that the company will have to give back revenue and profits that were made with the alleged wrongful conduct. Microsoft has responded that the system indeed has less space available than advertised but that customers understand that the operating system and pre-installed apps take space. The company added that customers can add more storage by adding a MicroSD card or using the USB slot for USB based storage.
