Microsoft has developed a customized version of Windows 10 for the Chinese government. It’s not exactly known what changes the American software giant has made to the operating system, but in general the Chinese are worried about hidden backdoors that can be used by foreign secret services.

With the customized Windows 10 version, Microsoft should be able to sell licenses to local governments and state-owned companies.

The customizations were developed by Microsoft’s joint venture with China Electronics Technology Group.

“We have already developed the first version of the Windows 10 government secure system. It has been tested by three large enterprise customers,” a Microsoft spokesman told the website China Daily.

“We have worked extensively to make it secure and controllable. We are now ready to serve the market,” he added.
