Microsoft: Edge browser is better than Firefox and Chrome in high quality video streaming

Microsoft Edge is the best browser for streaming high quality video on Netflix. It's the only browser that is able to display movies and series at 1080p. Chrome, Firefox and Opera are stuck at 720p. Microsoft claimed this on its website and the claim has been independently verified by PC World.

Users that don't want to use Edge and still want to view Netflix in high quality can use the Windows 10 app  of the video streaming service. This app also plays back content at 1080p.

While Edge might be able to stream video in higher quality than other popular browsers, it still isn't popular. Microsoft's latest browser holds a small market share and a year after its initial release is still not finished. The browser does not support extensions yet, this feature will finally be added with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update that is scheduled for next month.

Given Edge's low popularity,  Microsoft takes any opportunity to emphasize which benefits Edge does have. Besides the high quality video streaming, Microsoft also claims it's the most power efficient browser, something that was quickly debunked by Opera which demonstrated their browser was the most power efficient.
