The affected apps are MSN Food & Drink, MSN Health & Fitness and MSN Travel, according to All About Windows Phone which received an email from Microsoft. The Android Play Store reports that the first two apps have between 100,000 and 500,000 installs.Further indications on how many users of the apps have are not provided by Microsoft. The limited use of the apps is a reason to no longer continue with the apps, according to the software giant.

The services that power the apps continue to exist. On the the MSN website users can continue to look up information. Microsoft advizes users to migrate their data from the services but the page that should explain how, is not online yet.

Microsoft also preinstalled the MSN apps in Windows. The apps are removed from app stores by the end of this year. MSN News, MSN Weather, MSN Sport and MSN Money will continue to be offered. It's unknown whether the removal of the apps is related to the recent layoff of 7,800 Microsoft employees.
