Microsoft now finally offers its Office suite from the Windows Store

Microsoft will start to offer its Office suite in the Windows Store. It's likely the move comes due to the release of Windows 10 S, a stripped down version of the operating system that only allows installing software from the Windows Store.

With Windows 10 S and its Surface laptops, Microsoft wants to compete with Google's Chromebooks.

Users who recently purchased a device with Windows 10 S can use Office 365 from the Windows Store a year for free. The reason it's free is because it might still have some issues, as Microsoft writes on its site, "While Office itself is not in preview, Office is using new install and update processes that are in preview. As a result, Office in the Windows Store may occasionally behave in unexpected ways".

Currently Office can only be downloaded from the Windows Store on Windows 10. Later, the software should also become available from the Windows Store on other Windows 10 versions.
