The update can be installed by everyone running a previous Windows 10 test build. The build has become available for both slow as fast ring users. Fast ring users receive updates faster than slow ring users and therefore take the risk to get versions that can contain more bugs. A new Windows 10 build for smartphones hasn't seen the light yet.

The new version introduces the transparent start menu and the button that provides access to all applications can now be easier tapped on a touchscreen. It's now possible to drag apps to this screen to pin them. Microsoft has also added the possibility to drag windows to virtual desktops, previously the content menu had to be used to achieve that.

Cortana, Microsoft's digital assistant, now works in more countries than the United States. Supported countries now include Germany, China, United Kingdom and France.  Finally, the build adds a popup menu when the network icon on the taskbar is clicked.

Microsoft warns that the build still contains bugs, e.g. when  logging in their can be issues when entering the username and password. Although Microsoft warns for bugs, the software giant has also fixed many compared to the previous build, including one that caused the start screen not to open.

Wednesday Microsoft announced a Windows 10 version for small devices, mainly targeted at devices with ARM CPUs. Windows 10 Internet of Things, as Microsoft calls this version, should become available this summer. Earlier Microsoft also announced a Windows version for the Raspberry Pi 2.
