Microsoft has shipped 2.5 million Surface devices in the fourth quarter of last year. The company shipped 6 million Surface devices over the entire year 2015. These numbers are far more than the expected 4 million shipped devices, according to Digitimes which bases itself on sources within the supply chain.
Although the PC and laptop market continues to shrink, insiders expect that the number of shipped hybrid Surface devices will grow with 30% in 2016. Especially the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book contributed to the success of the Surface devices.
Microsoft is reportedly also working on new Surface devices that are expected to be revealed in the second half of this year. One of these devices is possibly Microsoft's Surface phone, a device on which many rumors already appeared on the internet.
