Microsoft to release My Server Applications for Windows Phone and Windows 8

From an internal Microsoft document in possession of Myce.wiki we have learned more about recently announced applications for Windows Phone and Windows 8 which were previously referred to as companion apps. The applications will go by the name 'My Server'. My Server is an application for Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices, which enables access to and remote management of Windows Server 2012 Essentials. A standard user can access files and media on a server running Windows Server 2012 Essentials, and an administrator can manage server status (health), network alerts, user accounts, and devices. A credentials store is offered to store connections to multiple servers running Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

Windows Phone and Windows 8 Live Tile functionality is also offered if chosen to pin My Server to the Windows Phone or Windows 8 home screen. The applications also allow users to browse files and folders from the shared resources that they have access to or from private folders on the server running Windows Server 2012 Essentials.  My Server on Windows 8 also saves a local copy of the file opened, so that the server file can still be opened even if the Windows 8 device is in offline mode.

A Windows Phone version can be downloaded from the marketplace, for the Windows 8 version no release date has been disclosed.
