The company from Redmond has invited several American publications, ZDNet reports. A Microsoft spokesman has confirmed that during the event on the 21st of January the company will provide more information on the consumer version of Windows 10. Which features the company will demonstrate hasn't been disclosed but it's likely the company will demonstrate the speech and information service Cortana. Cortana is already available on Windows Phone and will also become part of Windows 10.

According to ZDNet's sources, Microsoft will only demonstrate the Metro interface of Windows 10. The desktop interface will not be shown during the event. Besides a showcase of the consumer version of Windows 10, Microsoft will likely also release the January Technical Preview on the same day, a new early version of Windows 10 intended for testers.

Rumors that Microsoft would reveal more information about the consumer version of Windows 10 in January popped up earlier already. The company previously released a Technical Preview of its upcoming operating system but that version isn't suitable yet for daily use.
