Microsoft's digital assistant Cortana will start scanning emails to remind you of appointments

A new feature of Microsoft's digital assistant Cortana scans emails to remind you of appointments. The feature was added to the last Windows 10 Insider build.

"Cortana will look for emails where you've said you're going to do something," explains Microsoft's Marcus Ash in an interview with The Verge. This means that when you promise e.g. a colleague to get something done before next week, Cortana will ask you if you want to set a reminder.

The scanning will work locally, so no data is send to Microsoft's servers, the company promises.  It's also possible to turn the feature off.
