The Windows 8  Metro version of Firefox has been postponed to 2014.  Till now the release that's been rescheduled several times already, was planned for December this year. The new Firefox version with the Windows 8 interface should now be released on the 21st of January 2014.

Till now the version was planned for the 10th of December this year. Although Microsoft doesn't use the name Metro anymore (instead they prefer Modern UI) the Firefox version still has the name Firefox Metro. Firefox Metro will now be based on Firefox 27. Initially the browser would be based on Firefox 14 but the browser isone and half year late and Firefox is now in it's late twenties.

The first beta version of the browser should have been released last year but still none of them has been made available.  Mozilla only released some early nightlies so far. This week a preview version of Firefox Metro will debut on the Aurora channel of Firefox, when the first beta version become available is yet unknown.

The Metro Firefox will be an official port of Mozilla’s Firefox Internet browser for the Windows 8, touch-friendly, Metro user interface. Mozilla has stated that it is intended to deliver a fully functional version of the browser that will mimic Internet Explorer 10’s split personality which has a desktop and Metro mode. If you're curious how the browser will look like, then check out the mockups the developers have created here.
