Mushkin claims worlds fastest USB 3.0 drive

Mushkin announced the availability of what it claims, worlds fastest USB 3.0 drive. To be more specific, the company claims the fastest 240 GB USB 3.0 drive. The drive has the name Ventura Ultra and was previously announced at CES 2013. Mushkin specifies transfer rates of up to 450 MB/s for reading and 445 MB/s for writing. The Ventura Ultra also supports USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP).

USAP means that commands can be sent to the device buffer, where the host system will receive an acknowledge command that the transfer has been completed, even though the transaction may only be stored in a temporary buffer.

This allows the next transaction to be sent or received, and the device is free to commit the transaction when it’s convenient.  The technology is implemented at the hardware, firmware, driver, and operating system level, which are all required for UASP to function. Currently there's only a handful USB 3.0 chipsets that support USAP.

The Mushkin Ventura Ultra is available October 7th 2013 worldwide from authorized Mushkin resellers and distributors.
