Other goals of the tool are preventing identity theft, killing spam and stopping phishing

"pEp security's purpose is to offer privacy and security in written digital communications for everyone. Our vision is to offer an automatic and easy to use solution with end-to-end protection for all written digital communications over the Internet. Hence, ‘Privacy by Default’. Our team of 25 is committed to developing and broadly distributing complete and transparent software solutions for easy protection of privacy", the developers write on their website.

For now only emails are encrypted, but as the developers write, they want to encrypts all written communications, therefore encrypted chat should follow next.

The tool is open source and compatible with OpenPGP. The Android version is free the Outlook version costs $20 a year. Versions for iOS, Apple Mail, Thunderbird and Web browsers are planned for later this year.
