New Microsoft tablet with LTE reaches FCC

A listing on the website of FCC shows that Microsoft is planning to release a new tablet with LTE before July this year. The listing shows a model with FCC ID C3K1573 which is a portable computing device with WWAN, 802.11B/G/A/N and Bluetooth. A test report filing reveals the device will also support GSM, CDMA and LTE.

Most reports on the device were filed today. Unfortunately Microsoft has decided to hide as much as possible from our curious eyes.

Our best bet is that it will be a new Surface Tablet with LTE. This was expected as Microsoft Surface chief revealed during a Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit that the software giant from Redmond was planning to release such a device in 2014. During the AMA he wrote, "We didn't talk about it today, but Surface 2 will be launching an awesome LTE SKU early next year".

The Federal Communications Commission has to approve devices that make use of radio frequencies. Companies submit their products to the FCC long before launch to get approval.
