Newcomer Minus offers a drag and drop file sharing service done right

The Internet is currently full of drag-and-drop file sharing sites and Minus is definitely another one of those sites. The difference between Minus and everyone else is exactly how well supported the service is.

Minus provides users with a free service to share files on pretty much any platform you could even imagine. Before you ask, webOS is not supported, but iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7 sure are. The mobile app section also indicates “More coming soon..” which could mean a webOS app was planned but it more likely indicates upcoming support for Blackberry devices.

A Minus app is also provided for Windows, Mac OS X, and Ubuntu. Firefox and Chrome Extensions are also provided in addition to the just using the web version of the site itself to upload your files.

If you load the app onto your desktop computer a Minus icon gets added into your system try (or menu bar) and uploading files is as easy as just dragging them over to that icon. Minus provides a timeline of your files, grab links your particular files, and set privacy settings.

The mobile apps are also straight forward and easy to use. I tested the Android app and it has a simple set of two buttons, one for taking a picture using my phone’s camera and uploading that, and one for uploading any file from my phone. With a few clicks files are uploaded.

If you don’t want to run one of the many apps offered, the website is just as easy to use and also provides a view of the timeline, where you can do all the things the apps can do. Minus is definitely worth checking out if you have a need for a fast and easy file-sharing app. Do you use file-sharing services like Minus often? If so which one is your favorite?
