Opera adds native, free, unlimited VPN service to browser

Opera today announced the addition of a native, unlimited and free VPN client to their browser. Previously additional software was required to connect to a VPN. A VPN service redirects internet connections through another server. This allows users to be more anonymous on the internet and to pretend coming from another country, allowing them to see content normally not available in their country.

Opera's VPN service is currently only available in the Opera developer version and is hidden in the settings menu. The service currently only offers VPN servers in the United States, Canada and Germany and is  powered by SurfEasy, which Opera acquired in March this year.

The browser developer also announced it will focus more on its desktop browser. This focus has now resulted in the addition of the VPN service and also in the recent addition of a built-in adblocker.

Another new innovative feature the browser developer has added is 'video popout'. Which allows shifting a video frame to the side of the screen for improved multitasking. This way it's possible browse the comments, look for something in another tab or even prepare a presentation without missing out on the video action.
