Does size matter? Every man has this question circling in his brain and now Panasonic comes with an official answer. It does. Managing director Steve Rust told Current.com.au that plasma is better and size matters. “We did some market research…we actually went out and talked to hundreds of consumers [about] their viewing preferences and they came back and indicated to us, I think it was 69 per cent preferred, on larger screens, plasma,” Rust said.
Rust said that consumers prefer plasma over LCD because they believe the blacks are blacker, the contrast is better and fast moving images move smoother. The most interesting part of Rust’s announcement lies in Panasonic’s offer. The company, unlike some of its competitors, offers both plasma and LCD TVs but now officially shows a preference.
To think the company will make a decision eventually isn’t correct since they clearly divide the two formats. Plasma is great when its big and part of an in-home cinema, and LCD works in small and brightly lit rooms.
