Philips announced a new Blu-ray player, the BDP 7750 with a built-in upscaler to convert Full HD video to 4K / Ultra HD. According to Philips this makes it a good companion for an Ultra HD TV.
Besides the upscaling feature, the Blu-ray player has other features, like built-in Wifi to stream music, pictures and video and a Smart TV platform. Using this platform it's possible to use TV apps like Youtube, Netflix and Skype.
The Blu-ray player also supports Miracast which makes it possible to mirror the screen of a mobile device on the TV. The BDP-7750 also has the ability to playback 3D Blu-ray discs and supports DTS HD Master Audio, Dolby True HD and Cinema Perfect HD. The Cinema Perfect technology is marketed by Philips as a technology to reduce video noise and to sharpen the image.
