Plextor announces M6e PCIe SSD - designed for gamers

Plextor today announced the launch of the M6e which the company specifically targets to gamers. The Plextor M6e has specified maximum sequential read and write speeds of 770 MB/s and 625 MB/s respectively. Random read and write speeds are specified at 105K and 100K IOPS.

The SSD connects to the PC using a PCIe Gen2x2 interface. The M6e has a Marvell 88SS9183 controller with native PCI 2.0 support, and Toshiba Toggle NAND flash.  The Plextor M6e PCIe SSD will come in 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB capacities. The 128 GB has a 256 MB DRAM cache, the 256 GB drive has 512 MB DRAM on board and the 512 GB SSD comes with 1 GB of DRAM cache.

With Advanced Host Controller Interface (ACHI) support, the SSD doesn't require proprietary drivers. It also supports the usual suspects, TRIM, Native Command Queuing and S.M.A.R.T.

The M6e also supports UEFI boot mode for motherboards with UEFI to provide fast start-up times. The M6e has a MTBF of 2.4 million hours and comes with a five years warranty.
