Plextor announces next generation SSDs with 1y nm NAND cells

Plextor has announced that it will reveal more details on its next generation SSDs at Computex 2013 in Taiwan. In the announcement  the company talks about 1y nm NAND.  Unfortunately this is nearly all information the company has disclosed about this drive.

It likely means that Plextor will ship their SSDs with NAND cell sizes of either 16 nm, 18 nm or 19 nm small. At the moment the smallest NAND comes from Toshiba with a size of 19 nm per cell and as Plextor claims to be the first to display 1Y nm flash based SSDs it's likely that it will be smaller than 19 nm.

During Computex Plextor will also showcase eMMC, mSATA SSDs, and NGFF SSDs. The company will also move into enterprise level SSDs with a 2.5-inch ultra-high endurance SLC SSD.  Last but not least Plextor also announced that an extreme temperature resistant power protected MLC SSD will be shown.

This drive should be capable to deliver random maximum read/write speeds of 94,000/81,000 IOPS at temperatures between -40 and +85°C. The SSD utilizes tantalum capacitors to prevent data loss in the case of power interruption.
