lextor, a leading developer of high-performance digital storage technology, announces today its plans for a new performance line of SSD: M5 Pro. The M5 Pro Series is going to be a high-performance professional-grade SSD and the first Plextor SSD using the latest 3rd generation MarvellĀ® 88SS9187 controller.

The M5 Pro is designed and engineered with prosumers, businesses, and small/medium enterprises in mind, making use of the new multi-core Marvell controller to handle extreme high loads. This makes the M5 Pro suitable for use in a heavy workstation, server role, or Raid 0 configuration setting. In line with the needs of its users, the M5 Pro will incorporate a unique data protection technology in its firmware. The M5 Pro will also feature its renowned True Speed Technology to prevent the drastic performance drop seen in some SSDs after intense or long-term usage.
Each M5 Pro SSD will be backed by an industry leading five-year warranty and Plextor’s extensive international support infrastructure.
The M5 Pro Series is expected to be available in Europe in Q3 September. More details on the features and pricing of M5 Pro will be announced at a later stage.
