Samsung today announced its 850 EVO drive with a capacity of 4TB. This is double the capacity of the 2TB 850 EVO which the Korean electronics giant started selling last year. The drive has specified sequential read speeds of 540MB/s and sequential write speeds of 520MB/s.

The SATA-3, 2.5" form-factor drive uses Samsung's MHX controller combined with the company's 3rd generation V-NAND. The 4TB drives also come with a 4GB LPDDR3 cache. The drives aren't cheap, where the 2TB 850 EVO drive is listed at  about $675 at Amazon, the 4TB 850 EVO drive will set you back $1499.99.

The first reviews are out as well:

They all conclude the same, it's a good drive but when you buy it now, you'll pay the steep 'early adopter' price.
