Samsung Exec: Windows 8 not better than Vista

Windows 8 is the cause of a shrinking PC market, according to a senior Samsung executive.  Jun Dong-Soo, director of Samsung's memory chip division criticized Windows 8 in the Korea Times. According to him Microsoft's latest OS fails to boost demand for Windows-based computers.

He added that Windows 8 is no better than Windows Vista. It was expected that hardware manufacturers would release innovative PCs and tablets based on Windows 8. Instead the operating system has seen low interest from consumers and has been heavily criticized and only a handful of new devices have seen the light.

Windows Vista was the successor of Windows XP but was also heavily criticized.  Users didn't like the fact that a whole list of features from Windows XP couldn't be found in Vista anymore. Also the speed of the OS was considered worse than XP and Microsoft decided to abandon a lot of previous announced features in the final release. Because Windows 8 hasn't boost the PC sales, Samsung's memory division is now producing more memory chips for mobile devices instead of computer memory.
