Sandisk announced 64GB versions of its Connect Wireless Flash Drive and Media Drive. The USB drive features Wi-fi to enable music and video streaming from the device to other devices. The Media Drive also supports SDXC memory cards.
The Connect Wireless Flash Drive has a capacity of 64GB flash memory, the Media Drive contains the same amount of flash memory but allows for additional storage on SDXC cards. According to Sandisk the devices can stream to up to eight devices, while they support streaming video to three devices at once. Both can be used as access points but they can also be added to existing Wi-fi networks and controlled using a web interface. Also mobile apps for Android and iOS are available.
The USB drive and Media Drive are powered by the USB port and Sandisk claims four hours battery life when streaming video on the USB drive. The Media Drive is able to stream eight hours of video on a full charge. Both devices are currently available and set you back about $100.
