Sandisk today announced three new SSDs in their Extreme Pro series. The Solid State Drives are available in capacities of up to 960GB. Sandisk also announced these new Extreme Pro drives come with a whopping 10 year warranty.
The three drives all have a SATA-3 interface and are available in capacities of 240GB, 480GB and 960GB. Sandisk specifies sequential read speeds of 550 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 520 MB/s. Random reads are specified at a maximum of 100,000 IOPS and random writes at 90,000 IOPS.
Sandisk also claims its nCache technology should improve intensive reading and writing and the SSDs support the obvious TRIM commands. The Extreme Pro SSDs also have a feature called thermal throttling to prevent the SSDs from overheating.
The drives consume up to 0.15W and come with Sandisk's SSD Dashboard software. This application can be used to measure the performance of the drives in real-time and it can be used to upgrade the firmware.
The guarantee Sandisk offers on the drives is remarkable, the drives have a 10 year warranty. The 240GB will be available at $189, the 480GB at $369 and the 960GB goes at $599.
