Sandisk introduces Ultra Plus SSDs and X110 SSDs with nCache

During CES, Sandisk has announced two new SSDs. The Ultra Plus is the latest consumer level SSD that features 19 nm MLC flashchips and the X110 is an OEM targeted SSD. The Ultra Plus is a 2.5" 7 mm high drive that will be available in capacities of 64, 128 and 256 GB.

According to Sandisk the drives, which use 19 nm toggle MLC NAND and a Marvell SS889175 controller, are able to achieve sequential read speeds up to 530 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 290 MB/s. When it comes to IOPS the drive should be good for 82k random reads and 39 for random writes. Not all pricing details are available but the 256 GB model is currently available on Amazon for about $250.

The X110 SSD is something you probably won't find on the shelves but more likely in end user products like Ultrabooks. It also features 19 nm toggle MLC NAND and also has the Marvell SS889175 controller but also has a feature called nCache. This is a piece of NAND memory that is used to boost the random writes  of the drive by combining a lot of small writes and write them to the SSD when it's idle.
