Sceptre introduces 27" LCD HDTV monitor

Sceptre has introduced a new 27-inch LCD HDTV that can also be used as a computer monitor, as consumers show interest in higher quality dual-use screens.

The latest Sceptre LCD TV, its first 27-inch model, supports a 5 ms response time, full 1080p, a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, and ships with three HDMI ports, USB, VGA, and DVI inputs.  Owners can view photos directly on the TV using the USB port, or play music and videos from PCs and notebooks.

A 1920 x 1080 resolution is available when the TV is connected to a PC in Sceptre's curious first attempt at 27-inch TVs.

"Not only do the on-screen images look stunningly crystal clear and flawless, the unititself also adds beauty and personality to any home decor," said Cathy Cou, Sceptre CP of operations.  "Available in a sleek black finish, these units enhance rather than detract from a home’s aesthetic appeal, unlike bulkier units on the market.”

The Sceptre 27-inch LCD HDTV is available for $449, with units sold online at Newegg and in retail stores at Target, Costco and Sears.  There are larger LCD HDTV models available in the same price range, but they don't share the same specs.

I think it's a shame the TV is just a 27-inch model, but it appears to be a very slick product. Would you be interested in a dual use HDTV/monitor?
