World’s biggest harddisk manufacturer Seagate want to extend their market share and plan to acquire a controlling interest in LaCie, a French manufacturer of consumer products. Seagate have offered to purchase a 65% share from LaCie’s chairman and CEO Philippe Spruch and his affiliate at €4,05 per share.

Seagate have constantly extended their market leadership. Best known transaction is probably when they acquired Samsung’s harddisk business end of last year. The whole business was also severly impacted by the Thailand flooding last year which led to a significant increase in prices.
