Security researchers release free tool RansomFree to protect against ransomware

As soon as files on the computer or network drives are encrypted, RansomFree will pause the process and show a popup asking the user to either let it run or stop and clean the threat.

The developers of tool claim to have analyzed the behavior of more than 40 different ransomware types. They found it to be effective against dozens of ransomware types, including Locky, Cryptowall, TeslaCrypt, Jigsaw and Cerber and they claim it should protect against 99% of ransomware strains.

When using RansomFree, users should also be protected against future ransomware attacks, as the developers write, "ransomware strains that will be developed in the future will most likely exhibit a similar behavior to today’s ransomware strains and will be detected and stopped by RansomFree. RansomFree will evolve as ransomware evolves."

The tool is free and should work perfectly along with other antivirus products .The developers claim it has hardly any impact on the computer's resources and also state that they will never ask for you to pay a fee or subscription at any time.
