Silicon Power announces its Velox V60 SSD range

Silicon Power, a leading provider of flash memory products, has unveiled its Velox V60 series of SATAIII SSDs, powered by SandForce and capable of delivering up to 550MB/s read and 500MB/s write performance. It is bundled with a 3.5" adapter bracket, vibration resistance to 20GB and shock resistance to 1500G, making it suitable for harsh environments that would quickly cause problems or potentially ruin a traditional HDD.

The SSD is enclosed in a stylish brushed metallic grey aluminium enclosure, a silver embossed diamond cut logo and curved edges. Despite the metal enclosure, it weighs just 64g and also claims to generate very little heat, making it ideal for lightweight laptops. The range is available in capacities of 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB and all are backed by a 3-year warranty.

There is no mention about what type of NAND it uses, let alone its IOPS performance, in its press release or its official webpage so it will not be until the first product reviews go live that its actual performance is revealed.
