Sony announces dual-core BDP-S790 Blu-ray player

Dual/multi-core technology can be found in computers and phones  but thanks to Sony, we can also add Blu-ray players to that list. Their new Blu-ray player that goes by the name BDP-S790 uses  dual-core processing power to upscale to a 4K resolution  (3840 x 2160) or to convert 2D images to  3D. Obviously the player needs to connect to a display that is able to show 4k or 3D and these are only slowing becoming available.

To connect to displays the Blu-ray player has 2 HDMI outputs. It uses Wifi to connect to the internet  and has support for Skype.  The device can be controlled either with the included remote or with the Sony Media Remote Android app. Thanks to DLNA support the player can stream content to an Android phone or PC.

The BDP-S790 will become available in May and cost around $250,- in the United States.
