Sony announced today the – what they claim – fastest memory card ever, the XDQ S Series. Available in 32 and 64 GB, Sony promises that the cards are able to achieve a transfer rate of 168MB/s for both reading and writing. This is faster than the fastest Compact Flash cards, of which the interface already has a theoretical maximum of 167MB/s .
While aimed for professional/sports photographers, so they can capture more images per second, it also helps to make backups to and from the card faster. According to Sony a whopping 30%. They will become available in July, unfortunately no pricing information was disclosed
