TDK has issued a press release announcing a new series of SSDs that will using TDK's own SSD controller chip. It's an interesting move, TDK previously marketed SSDs but recently withdrew from a joint venture with the Taiwanese company PQI.  That joint venture, called CoreSolid had allegedly ceased operations due to the fierce competition in the SSD market. Now TDK seems to re-enter the market and this time with drives using the relative slow SATA II interface.
