TiVo has developed a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) with 24TB of storage and 6 HD tuners. The TiVo Mega contains 10 HDDs and has a 19" rackmount case. The hot swappable HDDs have a capacity of 3TB each and configured in RAID5, totalling a whopping 24TB of net storage space. The case also contains 6 HD tuners.
TiVo claims the storage space is sufficient to store more than 26,000 hours of stored TV in SD and 4,000 in HD quality. The DVR runs TiVo's own operating system and recorded TV shows can only be viewed with other TiVo devices and TiVo mobile applications.
The Mega is targeted at "TV-watchers who just can't get enough", according to the American DVR manufacturer. The company will sell the Mega at about $5,000 which includes a lifetime subscription to TiVo services.
