Transcend announced their SSD740 series solid disk drives using a JMicron controller. The drives connect to your computer using the SATA-3 interface and have specified sequential read speeds of 530 MB/s and sequential write speeds of 470 MB/s. Random reads and writes are specified at respectively 68000 IOPS and 66000 IOPS.
The SSD740 use MLC NAND that is controlled by a JMicron JMF667H controller which we haven't seen in much SSDs before. The drives are available in capacities of 64, 128 and 256 GB, all with DDR3 RAM cache of an undisclosed size.
The SSD740 SSDs are available in a 2.5" form factor with a thickness of 7 mm and they weigh 52 grams. They support the usual TRIM and NCQ commands and also support for SATA DevSleep is added. With SATA DevSleep it's possible to put the SSD in a low power mode to save energy.
Transcend gives a three year warranty on the drives while the company hasn't disclosed prices yet we've seen the 256 GB drive for around $310,-.
