TuneIn provides its users with hundreds of thousands internet radio streams and also many podcasts can be accessed through the app. The latest version was released September 8th and after the update many users have started to complain about frequent crashes and the obligation to login to Facebook or Google. During registration using a Facebook or Google account, the application also asks for additional user information like gender and birthday.

The Google Play page of TuneIn Radio reports the application has between 50 million and 100 million installs and is in the top 10 of most popular applications in many countries. Besides an Android version the application is also available on iTunes, Blackberry, Windows Phone, Smart TVs and Windows 8. The company behind TuneIn reports it has 200 million installs on all platforms combined which spent 2.3 hours on average per day listening to TuneIn streams.

Besides a free version of the application, the company also sells a paid version ($8.99 / $9.99 depending on the platform). Users of the paid Android version also complain the app has become worse.

The majority of the people appear to think that the success of the TuneIn app is now being used by the developers to monetize it in every possible way, without putting the users at the first place.
