Ubisoft reactivates banned license keys for Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft has reconsidered its decision to ban license keys of Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity. According to Ubisoft the key were bought with a fraudulent credit card. Gamers with banned licenses who activated and started playing are now able to play again.

Last week Ubisoft banned license keys of many gamers who from then on could no longer play games like Far Cry 4 and AC: Unity. The licenses were paid for, but purchased from unofficial retailers. However according to the French game studio, the keys were bought with fraudulent credit cards.

The company now seems to have changed its mind, "after further investigation into the matter of keys that were fraudulently purchased on EA's Origin store, we are reinstating keys for consumers who already had successfully activated and started playing the games", the company mailed game website GameInformer.

Keys that have been obtained with fraudulent credit cards and that were resold remain deactivated. The company also underlines it will continue to ban these kind of keys in the future. Ubisoft works together with EA to prevent the same thing from happening again.

Many gamers that saw their license banned bought their key from G2A. This website offers licenses for a much lower price than Ubisoft, that's possible because the company purchases the keys in countries where they are sold for less and sells them in countries where the keys are higher priced.

Ubisoft warns gamers to get their keys from the Uplay store or from official retailers in the future to prevent them from getting their keys banned.
